First off, let me just say….Thank You! Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy all we have to offer. Most of all, I hope to see you again, real soon!
Who : My name is Gretchen, I am a SAHM (stay at home mom) to 3 beautiful kids, 1 handsome husband, 1 squishy face pug and a guinea pig. Being home with my kids is THE most important thing to me in this stage of my life. It’s what I was meant to do. I have always known it. I want to instill in my children a sense of greatness in this world. The sky is the limit and follow your passion! I love that quote “Don’t educate your child to be rich. Educate them to be happy. So when he grows up he’ll know the value of things, not the price.” (author unknown). Anyway, I had been dreaming of starting a business that I could do alongside raising my kids, but not just ANY business would do! It had to be MEANINGFUL, UNIQUE, ECO- FRIENDLY and most of all something I DEEPLY believed in.
Frequently asked questions…..
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THIS? Well, I fell in love with a Bolga basket I saw one day. I live in “small town USA” Wisconsin and knew it was not something I could easily come by around here. I knew they had to be FAIR Trade and the company I chose to work with treated me like family from day 1. That was that. The Bee’s Wrap was a no brain-er for me. It is so AMAZING and unique. No one else around has her concept. AND she was a small business. AND a working mom. I just had to support her mission. Not to mention her products are non-toxic, sustainable and SMELL divine!
Do I have a local shop? NO, I work out of my local Kenosha HarborMarket. We are open year round and have such a HUGE crowd that a shop just didn’t make much sense. Bonus, I get to work outside (except in the winter)!!! This option also allows me to travel to other venues all around Wisconsin.
What is Fair Trade? Just that, a fair trade of goods and services! These practices ensure that a Fair Wage is paid, a comfortable work environment is provided and the artisans are happy with their work! Many times programs are also implemented which offer access to Healthcare and Education!!
Have I been to Africa? No. Although it is on my bucket list! The timing is not right for me at this point in my life.
Do I plan on offering more variety of items? YES!!!! As we speak I have a variety of items in the works…Wool Dryer Balls are a brand new item currently being offered! Tea Cup candles are in the works; Soy and Bee’s Wax. I am also tinkering with a lotion bar recipe!! African Christmas ornaments and nativity scenes are on the agenda for Christmas 2016. Please check back for these items!
